Event Details

Every fishing competition hosted by the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club welcomes participation from all anglers no matter their experience or age. Ladies and Junior anglers are always encouraged to be involved in each and every event with additional prize sections and give-a-ways to acknowledge their participation.

Our annual calendar is packed with great Tournaments and Competitions. Our events for 2006 is typical of events held every year with something for everyone no matter your fishing skill level or interest. The brief summary below outlines just some of the reasons for getting involved with the biggest and best Game Fishing Club in the East Arnhem Region.

February 25 &26 - Arnhem Club Family Fishing Challenge

A great family fishing competition with special prize sections for all. Fish 6am to 3pm with the weigh in at the Arnhem Club until 5pm. The Arnhem Club is again supporting this annual event and a $1000 door prize and many fabulous lucky door prizes are up for grabs. BBQ Presentation from 6pm at the Club. March 12 – Airnorth Ladies Fishing Classic

Open Tournament for the ladies – members and their guests. In the past 3 years this has been a very popular tournament keenly contested and well attended. The ladies have shown how it is done by weighing in more fish that any other competition. A great fun day where the gents look after every whim and demand from their lovely crew. Retail therapy prize of 2 return tickets to Darwin flying Airnorth are up for grabs for the ladies next shopping escape!

June 03 & 04 – XXXX Gold Gove Sports Challenge

A crazy weekend of sport. Teams of 4 battle it out for the title of Gove Champion Sports Team. Fishing Saturday 6am to 3pm followed by a darts competition and sausage sizzle at the Gove Yacht Club, Then onto the Arnhem Club at sunset to play 10 ends of Lawn Bowls. Sunday begins at the Gove Country Club with a 9 hole Ambrose, followed by a BBQ lunch and the Presentation that afternoon from 1pm.

October 21 & 22 - John Jones Memorial Billfish Challenge

A Billfish Competition dedicated to a great past Club member and President, John Jones, is set to chase Sailfish and Marlin as they return to our local waters following the cooler conditions. This teams event is a great practice run for the Clubs major Tournament, The Gove Game Classic, and has become one of the Club's signature events on the NT Gamefishing Calendar.

November 17 – 20 XXXX Gold Gove Game Classic

The Clubs major event of the year will see teams of 4 anglers participating in this great 4 day tournament chasing Game Fish of many species prolific in these local waters. Attracting anglers from many states in Australia and Overseas, participants will enjoy the best the Territory can offer over 4 great days and should not be missed. Sponsors have once again assured the success of this classic with outstanding prizes up for grabs in over 35 categories.

December 16 – 2006 Membership Rewards Draw & Club Christmas Party

As reward to the members of the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club who actively participate in the Club run events, tournaments and activities, the NRSFC will be giving away a boat, motor and trailer package, along with many other prizes at the end of the year. Each time a member attends or enters any Club run activity or event, he/she will be entitled to an entry in the draw for a prize. What a great way to celebrate at the Clubs Christmas Party !!!
