![]() The Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club (NRSFC) would like to invite all anglers to participate in the many sporting activities and social events hosted by the club. Members can participate in several fishing categories within all Club Tournaments and Competitions and select to compete in the traditional challenges of Game Fishing, or participate in the very popular pastimes of Reef , Estuary and Land Based Fishing. So if it’s fishing from a wharf, out of a tinnie in a creek, bottom bouncing on the reef or testing your skills on light tackle, the NRSFC can offer an enjoyable challenge to your recreational pastime. The club meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month from 8pm at the Arnhem Club. These single or multiple day events have a briefing night held on a nominated evening prior to the competition. The meetings confirm entries , review rules, fishing times, long rang weather forecasts, weigh-in times and any other special requirements. Fishing CategoriesGame Fishing : Rod & Reel and Fly tackle which complies with Territory (NTGFA) and Australian (GFAA) Rules & Regulations MembershipThe club year is from the 1st of July through to the 30th of June the following year. Memberships start from as little as $25 for adults and $15 for Juniors. Family memberships are $50 for 2 adults and all family juniors receive FREE club membership when both parents join. 2007 Events & TournamentsThe club celebrates it’s 30th birthday this year and has arranged a full calendar of events for 2007. 13th & 14th January - AFANT Junior Fishing Clinics and Competition. All local juniors can attend a fishing clinic and learn about recreational fishing, tackle, casting, baits and much more. A competition will be held the next day to test their new skills and try out local hot spots. 11th February – The Arnhem Club Family Fishing Competition. A very popular open event where the whole family can have a great day out together. Fantastic competition and door prizes including the $500 junior tackle outfit. 10th & 11th of March – Airnorth Ladies Fishing Classic. Girls watch out for this event, guys take cover ! The ladies have posted the highest scores for any one day event for the past 3 years and are set to show the boys how its done once again. Airnorth will once again put up the “Retail Therapy” lucky door prizes of 2 return flights from Gove to Darwin. Be quick to register for this one. Easter Family Fishing & Camping Weekend – 6th to 9th April. Great way to unwind over the Easter weekend with the club families camp out at Spring Camp 2 hours south west of Gove. 4 x 4 a must and members must register with permits. 12th to 15th April – East Arnhem Land Barramundi Classic – 2 days fishing the Cato River, the best barra hot spot outside of the Darwin Region. This inaugural event is backed by great sponsors and is assured to be a future event for many years to come. June 2nd and 3rd – XXXX Gold Sports Weekend. A crazy weekend of fishing, golf, darts and bowls held over 2 days. A must for the sports enthusiast with a touch of insanity thrown in for good luck ! Teams of 4 required for this event. 14th & 15th July – Spring Camp Family Fishing & Camping Weekend – The club heads back to Spring Camp for the long weekend of the school holidays. Big and little kids competition the Saturday afternoon. Don’t forget your permits. 7th of August - Annual General Meeting. Drop by the Yacht Club for a free sunset BBQ and stay on for the AGM. Hear of the past years results and successes and have your say to decide the future direction of the club. Free BBQ dinner and complementary refreshments following the AGM. If attending, please contact the club for catering purposes (8987 8333, 8987 2007 or 8987 1727). 18th August – 30th birthday for the Nhulunbuy regional Sports Fishing Club – Celebrate this wonderful milestone with the club. A birthday party with a difference will be held to mark this achievement. Stay turned for more information!!! October 2007 to April 2008 - XXXX Gold Billfish Tournament. Monthly tag and release competition for Sailfish and Marlin. Run over the Billfish season with monthly prizes along with the end of season presentation dinner and tournament prizes. 6th to 14th of October - Walkabout Lodge John Jones Memorial Billfish Challenge. Billfish tag and release tournament where anglers can nominate to fish any two days over this period. Presentation Dinner is included in the entry fee. 8th to 11th of November – 21st XXXX Gold Gove Game Classic. The Clubs signature event held over 4 days. Game Fishing at its best with over 30 prize categories and 20 lucky draw giveaways for this years celebrations. 8th December - Sponsors Tournament & Club Awards. Members have a chance to take our sponsors out for a day’s fishing and thank them for their great support throughout the year. The annual club awards follow the BBQ at the Yacht Club. 15th December - Membership Rewards Draw and Christmas Party. What better way to wrap up the year by having a party and giving away a boat charter in the Whitsunday’s !!! This is a members only draw. No tickets for sale. Earn tickets every time you participate in events and competitions. Holiday package and other lucky draws valued at over $10,000. Monthly Angling Awards – For those unable to enter events due to work or other time restraints, the club nominated fish species for each month with prizes for the highest point scoring angler & heaviest fish weighed outside of competitions.
